Torres de l'Aldea

place Partida la Ermita, 229 43877 l'Aldea , Tarragona, Catalonia

The municipality of l'Aldea has four medieval watchtowers, listed as Cultural Assets of National Interest by the Government of Catalonia. You can see them all by following, on foot or by bike, the route promoted by the Town Council of this Delta town. The Torre de l'Ermita, with its rectangular plan, is surely one of the town's most outstanding heritage sites and has in fact become the symbol of the town. There is also the Torre de la Candela, in the south of the municipality, beside the river and facing the town centre of Amposta. And we cannot forget the imposing round tower of Burjassénia and the ruins of the Benixarop tower (all of them 13th century), in the north of the municipality, in dry-farming land, where you can enjoy a marvellous panorama of the Ebro Delta.
