LA FARSA DE GANDESA (The Gandesa Farce)
On 17 October 1319 an odd wedding took place in Gandesa between Prince James, son of James II, and Eleanor, daughter of Ferdinand IV of Castile. This event is known as "La Farsa de Gandesa".
Since 2014 a re-enactment of this historical event has been staged in some of the original places and in the streets of the old town.
Gandesa returns to the 14th century to relive that royal wedding, dressing up squares and streets, with demonstrations by craftspeople and old trades, re-enactments of the wedding, street shows, etc. The event coincides with the Local Market in Plaça del Comerç, opened by King James II and his retinue.
