Platja de Riumar
Platja de Riumar is a true paradise, with its fine golden sand and a beautiful sweep of dunes (unique in Catalonia) spread over an area of nearly four kilometres.

It is also a paradise for its size, which makes you feel insignificant amid so much natural beauty; for the closeness of the birds; and for the shallowness of its waters which, together with the gentle winds of the area, create waves that delight surfers and windsurfers.
Between the mouth of the Ebro and Platja de la Bassa de l’Arena, Platja de Riumar is one of the most appreciated beaches in the Terres de l’Ebre. Being next to the mouth of the Ebro, still waters predominate, with small islets forming lagoons.
It is also a paradise for ornithologists, as Platja de Riumar (and the whole Delta) is a privileged place for birdwatching, especially flamingos, which show off their pink plumage as they feed and recharge in this unique ecosystem.
Platja de Riumar has a range of services, including parking, showers, beach bars, hire of parasols, sun loungers and pedalos, walkways, a sailing club, a beach library, a picnic area, a bus service and daily cleaning, among others. As it is next to the village of Riumar, you also have a wide choice of restaurants serving rich local, traditional cuisine, as well as bike hire, adventure activity companies, guides and a variety of shops. In summer, the beach also has a lifeguard service. And it is adapted for people with disabilities.
Another special feature of Platja de Riumar, which lies within the Ebro Delta Natural Park, is that the Garxal area, with a bird-watching point, is very close. Following the Garxal route along a sand track takes you to the Zigurat, a tower about 7 metres high with magnificent views of the mouth of the Ebro, Illa de Buda and Illa de Sant Antoni. The best moments to spot birds and capture the images are first thing in the morning or at dusk, when the sun sets.
