Cala Forn
Many people consider Cala Forn the best cove in L’Ametlla de Mar, in the north of the Terres de l’Ebre, for its crystal-clear waters, its fine golden sand, the wild setting around it... and its special beach bar, with exquisite food and service! That said, the other beaches and coves of L’Ametlla de Mar share some of these qualities.
More information
Cala Forn, like Cala Sant Jordi and Cala Vidre, lies close to them and shares a setting with the remains of the 13th-century castle of the Order of Sant Jordi d’Alfama, now restored. Square in shape, about 100 metres long by 100 wide, Cala Forn has a gentle slope into the water and is a perfect place for diving and snorkelling and for admiring its marine life.
The cove also has a number of services, such as signposting, a lifeguard and rescue post, showers and portable toilets, bins and the beach bar mentioned above. Another notable feature of Cala Forn is that it is surrounded by vegetation, mainly pine trees, which give it a unique scenic beauty even though it is considered a semi-urban cove. This connection with nature is reinforced by several hiking routes along which you can follow the coast and hop from cove to cove, beach to beach. In summer you can also hire kayaks to explore its waters and enjoy the coastal and sea views. Pure Mediterranean!
