Platja de l’Estany or del Port de l’Estany Gras
Platja de l’Estany, or del Port de l’Estany Gras, in L’Ametlla de Mar, in the north of the Terres de l’Ebre, was an old natural fishing harbour until the present port was built around 1920. About 200 metres long by about 30 wide, Platja de l’Estany has fine golden sand mixed with gravel, and moderate swell depending on the wind.
More information
Platja de l’Estany has several services, such as parking, showers and toilets, a lifeguard and surveillance service, a walkway for people with reduced mobility, a beach bar, nearby bars and restaurants, and signposting, among others.
But one of the most prized qualities of Platja de l’Estany, and the one that sets it apart, is the great ecological value of the area, with rich native vegetation dominated by pine woods, kermes oaks and dwarf fan palms, and highly varied marine life that is a great draw for scuba diving.
