Cala Calafat

place 36 Avinguda Mediterrània 43860 Calafat, Tarragona, Catalonia

Cala Calafat and Cala Calafató are in a historic area of L’Ametlla de Mar, in the north of the Terres de l’Ebre. The Calafat area was especially important in Roman times, as it lay right next to the Via Augusta, the road that led to Rome, then the ‘capital of the world’. Although much of L’Ametlla de Mar’s coast is steep and rugged, Cala Calafat, Cala Calafató and Cala lo Ribellet, in the north of the municipality, stand out for their fine golden sand.
