Prawns (llagostins)

Among all the seafood of the Delta we highlight the prawns of La Ràpita, of the species Penaeus kerathurus, found throughout the Mediterranean. They are easily recognised by their black, bulging eyes, slight black spots on the shell and firm flesh.

This product has been part of both the everyday cooking of the area and that of the fishing boats, and has now become a tourist attraction.

The most typical recipe in the Terres de l'Ebre is the grilled prawn (llagostí torrat), cooked on a very hot griddle with coarse salt.
