Wine and Food
To truly get to know a territory, you have to know its food. Cuisine reflects the ancient and recent history of a place, bringing in influences from other cultures and, above all, showing the richness of its natural environment. The forests of the Els Ports massif, the dry inland plains, the market gardens along the Ebro or the delta plain offer a diversity of produce: mushrooms, vegetables, sweet fruit, citrus or the distinctive rice of the Ebro Delta. All of this is complemented by tasty fish, seafood and molluscs which, nourished by nutrients the river pours into the sea, are taken from the bays and inland lagoons.
Where to find it
Many of the products made from these foods have also earned Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) or Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status, two certificates that recognise the quality of products such as rice sausages, olive oil, Terra Alta wines or the varied pastries of Arab tradition.
