Cala Pepo
Cala Pepo, also known as Caleta de Joanet, is a small cove that you will find as you stroll on past the breakwater of the Club Nàutic de l’Ametlla de Mar. Just over 25 metres long by 15 wide, it is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, mainly pine groves and kermes oaks inland, and Posidonia that links up with and dips below the seabed. Even though it is next to the town and benefits from the various services around it, it is usually not very busy, so it is always a good option if you want some time on the beach in peace.
More information
Its services include parking, restaurant-bars, signposting, showers and toilets, and access ramps for people with reduced mobility. Cala Pepo is cleaned daily.
Cala Pepo is made up mostly of fine golden sand, although once you step into the water you will notice small pebbles here and there. It is also an interesting cove for the shape of its seabed, with rocky formations that are very attractive to scuba divers, and the Posidonia meadows mentioned above. So don’t forget your goggles for snorkelling
At the same time, thanks to its proximity to the Club Nàutic, it is easy to try water sports such as canoeing and kayaking, among others. And as it is part of the Mediterranean Path (GR-92), Cala Pepo is an access point for hikers.
