L'Assut de Xerta i Tivenys
The weir of l’Assut is in one of the most spectacular and representative spots of the lower Ebro. Located at the height of the towns of Xerta and Tivenys, it seems to date back to Islamic times.

More information
It was restored in the mid-12th century but was not finished until 1441. In the mid-19th century it was adapted to channel water into the Dreta and Esquerra canals of the Ebro which, even today, irrigate the Delta and the inland market gardens of the valley. Despite these works, a lock lets boats sailing on the Ebro pass.
A small hydroelectric power station has now been installed here.
