Camp d'Aviació de la Sénia

The La Sénia airfield is located in the Plans district, about 2.5 km east of the town. It is reached from the La Sénia-Ulldecona road. During the Civil War (1936-1939) the government of the Second Republic, in order to defend itself against the rebel military coup, planned the construction of a series of military airfields in Catalonia. One of the most important was the La Sénia airfield, built in 1937. It is a partially preserved historic and heritage site linked to the recent memory of the town, with numerous oral, documentary and graphic references.
