Tortosa air-raid shelter no. 4
It is one of the more than twenty shelters built in Tortosa to protect the civilian population from air raids. Shelter number 4, built under the slope of the Garrofer district, was paid for with public funds and connected with another shelter at the end of Carrer Teodor Gonzàlez.

More information
With a capacity for 400 people it was the largest shelter in Tortosa. It is a system of galleries one metre wide and two metres high, dug into clayey ground and rounded pebbles, with an earth floor, and lined with bricks and concrete.
A visit is highly recommended, as it reproduces very well the experience of being inside while the bombs fall outside.
