Garrofetes del Papa Luna

They are dry pastries from the Baix Ebre, light and hollow inside, which solved the stomach problems of Pope Benedict XIII, known as "Papa Luna". The story goes that a doctor suggested the pontiff eat only a concentrate of flour, egg and sugar to relieve his stomach pains.

It was a resident of Bitem (Tortosa) who found the formula for turning these three ingredients into garrofetes.
