Cala de l’Illot
Cala de l’Illot, a tiny cove about 5 kilometres south of L’Ametlla de Mar, is considered by many one of the best coves in southern Catalonia and the Terres de l’Ebre, for its beauty and its natural, unspoilt setting.
More information
To reach Cala de l’Illot you must leave your vehicle on a nearby track and walk about 5 kilometres along paths, pine woods and cliffs, on a trail that is part of the Mediterranean Path (GR-92). The walk is not difficult, though, and can even be done with children.
It is advisable to bring suitable footwear, water and food, as there are no services of any kind at Cala de l’Illot. L’Illot is a small rocky island that you can swim to, and that can also be reached on foot at low tide. Very small, about 30 metres long by 30 wide, with a floor that combines golden sand with stones, Cala de l’Illot is a place of peace and quiet.
