More information
They are spread along the Ebro riverbed from Ascó to Deltebre. These areas have formations of great natural interest - reedbeds, silt beaches, poplar groves... - and shelter great biodiversity, with populations of herons, kingfishers, small passerines, and more.
Finally, the Ebro has a spectacular mouth, as the sediments carried over hundreds of years have formed a delta of enormous proportions. The delta began to form some 1,500 years ago and covers an area of 320 km2 of flat land and extensive rice fields.
The Delta's wildlife, mainly birds, attracts birdwatching lovers from all over the world. In fact, between 50,000 and 100,000 birds of more than 300 species have been counted.
