DO Montsant Wine

This is the designation of origin newest in Catalonia. All the growing land is very rugged; only along the banks of the Montsant river are there flat areas. From the Carignan, garnatxa negra and ull de llebre varieties come red wines with very high alcohol content and a very intense colour.

The white wines are made with macabeu for the finest ones, and with garnatxa blanca to give them more body. Rosés and fortified wines complete the designation's range, among them the standout mistela and vi blanc.
