Artichokes
Artichoke fields have been part of the Ebro Delta landscape since the mid-19th century. Its mild winters favour their cultivation. They arrived with irrigation and stand out for being early, tender, tasty and with no fuzz inside.
Today almost all the crop in the area is concentrated in the municipalities of l'Aldea and Amposta. The artichoke appears in many traditional dishes of the Terres de l'Ebre, such as rice, salt cod with suc, and rabbit or chicken casserole, but it is popularly eaten roasted or in an omelette.
