It is located in the old oil mill of the Martí masada (farmstead), one of the oldest in Santa Bàrbara, which has been restored to house the interpretation centre.

The permanent exhibition explains the colonisation and exploitation of the Plana del Montsià from the 18th century onwards, in seven thematic areas: the physical characteristics of the Plana; the colonisation and the new settlements in these areas; the Martí masada and its architecture; the traditional cultivation of the olive tree; traditional production, use and marketing of olive oil and the changes the sector has undergone in recent times.
It also includes a palaeontological and mineralogical collection, and a multipurpose room for events and exhibitions.
