Quatre Camins
Again from Gandesa, on the road to Vilalba dels Arcs along the TV-7231, we reach the Quatre Camins crossroads. We see two hills: Quatre Camins, where the Carlist requetés of the Tercio de Montserrat were stationed, and Punta Targa, barely 300 m away, occupied by the Republicans.
The Carlists began the attack to take Punta Targa, but were abandoned by other Nationalist battalions and were machine-gunned for hours by the Republicans. The Carlists, victorious the next day, built a cross-shaped memorial on Punta Targa.
