Cova de la Mallada

place Lluís Companys, 2 43519 El Perelló, Tarragona, Catalonia

Close to the Cabra Freixet rock paintings, this site lies within the Racó de l'Estrada area. These cavities, of prehistoric origin, were discovered in 1953. Since then they have gained importance because of the remains found inside, which have become the basis of an important archaeological site. Flint points, remains of awls and arrowheads, among other objects. These stone remains were used by Magdalenian people and are more than 15,000 years old. Together with the Cabra Freixet rock paintings, they have become one of the main sites for deciphering human activity in the area in prehistoric times.
