The Reserva Natural de Sebes is a river area on the banks of the Ebro as it passes through Flix. The origin of this wetland is already mentioned in texts from the 15th century, and it was mostly farmland until the abandonment of those uses allowed the river to recover, to some extent, what was its own. Preserving the wetlands is one of the defining features of the area. Since 1999 the protected area has been managed by a local NGO, the Grup de Natura Freixe, under an agreement with Flix Town Council and with the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The expert guides of the Grup de Natura Freixe (the nature reserve's own staff) run various activities such as guided visits to the natural area with interpretation of the natural environment, birdwatching, and more.
