The Way of St James

According to tradition, the Apostle St James himself walked this route and, during his journey, the Virgin Mary appeared to him on a pillar, at the spot where the Basilica of el Pilar in Zaragoza stands today.

Historically, it has served pilgrims settled in the lands watered by the Ebro, as well as pilgrims from other Mediterranean countries. The route starts at the river mouth, follows the river upstream and heads into the Terra Alta.
