'LO ROGET'. Feeling the Ebro up close and the town of Ascó

Reviewing the history of Catalonia through river tourism and travelling through its splendid landscapes is a reality we can offer in the Ribera d'Ebre by recreating the journeys that the "llaüters" (traditional river boatmen) once made.

Iberians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths... are some of the peoples who have passed along the banks of the Ebro, where we find places of great beauty thanks to the contrast between the irrigated gardens and the ochre colours of the dry-farmed lands.

The llaüt "Lo Roget", a 50-seat tourist boat that evokes the traditional llaüts that carried goods along the Ebro until the early 20th century, sails between Ascó and the Pas de l'Ase.

Our proposal is to combine sailing on "Lo Roget" with a guided visit to Ascó and its narrow, winding, steep, shady, zigzagging streets, like Moorish streets, and the Balcó de l'Ebre (Ebro Balcony), where you can admire the captivating landscape of the islands and the river, and finally the castle.
