The experience
The route starts in the picturesque village of Balada, opposite the "Illa de Gràcia", home to one of Catalonia's monumental trees known as the "Baladre de Balada". A few metres from the Camí de Sirga towpath, converted into a Greenway that runs from the Terra Alta to the old river mouth, ending at the wonderful Migjorn beach.
The itinerary lets you enjoy the recovered riverside woodland: white poplars, black poplars, tamarisks... that reach right down to the bank where storks, kingfishers and the singular, elegant azure-winged magpie... gently settle.
This space of stunning beauty takes us to the heart of the Ebro Delta Natural Park, recently declared a Biosphere Reserve.
