DO Tarragona Wine

The origins of the Tarragona designation coincide with the vineyards planted under the Roman Empire. Even then, the lands of Tarraconensis were known for their wines, considered among the finest in the Empire. The designation stands out for the diversity of the wines it covers.

Although whites predominate, smooth, fruity and low in acidity, there are also warm, light, low-strength reds. Rosés have recently been gaining prominence and coexist with fortified wines and rancis, such as Tarragona Clàssic and altar wine, which have endured over the centuries.
