At the end of September 1938, faced with international tensions that foreshadowed the imminent start of an armed conflict, the fighting on the Ebro intensified. One of the bloodiest battles of the entire war was fought. The terrain of the "cucucs", the area where the fighting was taking place, together with the weather, made conditions even harsher. They were, without any doubt, the most momentous days of the Battle of the Ebro.
