Cala Santes Creus, in L’Ametlla de Mar, in the Terres de l’Ebre, is a cove of pebbles and rock set within the protected area of Santes Creus, of high ecological interest. The cove is hard to reach and isolated from the town, and as it has no services, it is usually quiet, even in high season.
More information
Cala Santes Creus is reached by crossing the protected area of Santes Creus, south of the cape of the same name, in a privileged setting included in the Plan of Natural Areas of Interest. This area is of great ecological interest, for its lagoon landscape but also for its rich and varied endemic fauna, notably snails and crustaceans, as well as its typical Mediterranean flora.
Cala Santes Creus, about 130 metres long by 25 wide, has crystal-clear waters with moderate swell. Like the other beaches and coves of L’Ametlla de Mar, Cala Santes Creus is part of the Mediterranean Path (GR-92), with a spectacular coastal path (camí de ronda) that lets you hop from cove to cove and beach to beach.
Those who know the area often get there by kayak or canoe, to admire from the sea its landscape, which ends in a very photogenic little lagoon.
