What the Rice Festivals are
They began in 2001 with the aim of staging the work of the rice cycle as our grandparents did it: planting in June and harvesting in September, in the paddy and by hand.
The farmers give a demonstration in front of the public and, when they finish, anyone who wants can step into the field to plant or harvest. Then comes the party:
- Traditional music from Terres de l'Ebre and jota dancing.
- Community lunch, a small market of local products and traditional games.
- Theatre performances and popular culture activities.
- Cart and bicycle trips to the Canal Vell lagoon, which only opens on these days.
With the collaboration of
The Traditional Rice Festivals are a joint initiative of the Delta municipalities and the Terres de l'Ebre Tourism Board.
